This Friday, it begins the one year countdown to UIA 2020 RIO, the event that will turn Rio de Janeiro into the worldwide center of the debate about cities. It is the first time that Brazil will host the World Congress of Architects, on its 27th edition, from the 19th to the 23rd of July 2020.
The Congress is promoted by the International Union of Architects (UIA) and happens every three years, gathering more than 20 thousand people. The Institute of Architects of Brazil (IAB) is responsible for organizing the first edition of the forum in the country. Register now and enjoy the discount: official website.
UIA 2020 RIO is the biggest global event for architecture and urbanism, and its purpose is to stimulate the exchange of ideas and experiences between architects, urbanists, students, urban thinkers, public employees and other interested groups, encouraging new debates and solutions.
With the theme “All the worlds. Just one world. Architecture 21”, it will deal with sensitive issues related to big cities: infrastructure, construction, housing, mobility, culture and urban planning. The intense agenda of activities of the program will happen mainly in the Center of Rio de Janeiro.
Installations and cultural sites – such as museums, galleries, squares and venues for events – will welcome discussions and expositions throughout next year. Agreements were made with more than 40 institutions for exhibitions, forums, business expos, talks, workshops, seminars, competitions, projects, social meetings and popular celebrations.
Before the World Congress, on July 17 and 18 of 2020, the World Forum of Cities will open the official program with the participation of political, entrepreneurial, cultural and social leaders from all over the planet.
Every Brazilian entity of architecture, urbanism and landscaping is supporting the event, as well as the Pan-American Federation of Associations of Architects (FPAA) and the International Council of Architects of Portuguese Language (CIALP).
Besides the open registration, the call for academic papers and professional projects is available as well.
