The number of registrations for UIA 2020 RIO has been increasing due to the discount for early registration. The 27th World Congress of Architects is a part of an extensive program focused on the theme next year, at Rio de Janeiro.
On the first 30 days, more than 500 architects, urbanists and members of the civil society in general have guaranteed their presence at the event that will turn Rio into the epicenter of the debate about the past, the present and the future of cities from around the world.

Happening for the first time in Brazil, the congress will also celebrate Rio de Janeiro as the first city to win the title of World Capital of Architecture by UNESCO.
Two other cities in Latin America have hosted the event on the last century. The first one was Buenos Aires, in 1969, and the second, Mexico City, in 1978. To become host city on the 2020’s edition, Rio has competed against Paris and Melbourne. The World Congress of Architects had its first edition in Lausanne, Switzerland, in 1948, and happen every three years at the main cities of the world. In 2023, it will take place in Copenhagen, Denmark.
With the theme “All the worlds. Just one world. Architecture 21”, UIA 2020 RIO is promoted by the International Union of Architects (UIA) and organized by the Brazilian Institute of Architects (IAB). It will bring together specialists and enthusiasts of fairer and more dynamic cities to talk about solution between the 19th and the 23rd of July 2020. Before that, on July 17 and 18, Rio will also welcome the World Forum of Cities UNESCO-UIA, gathering mayors from previous host cities and social, political, cultural and organizational leaders.
